July 2, 2002 | If you're tired of the same old tulle and lace ads in bridal magazines, log on to indiebride.com.

This Web site is not for the woman who has planned her big day since she was 9 years old.

Instead, it's for anyone looking for more than the latest in china patterns.

In the words of the editor, Lori Leibovich, the intention is to "explore the whole marriage process, the highs, the lows and the complexities. My hope is that Indiebride will fill a much-needed niche in the bridal media, that it will be a place for would-be brides who have more on their minds than planning a reception."

Also, make a mental note before logging on to one of the chat rooms — the words fantasy, Cinderella and princess are strictly banned.

New website Indiebride.com vows to cut
through the frosting ("the words 'fantasy,' 'Cinderella'
and 'princess' are strictly banned from our pages") to
offer practical legal, financial and ceremonial advice to the
modern betrothed. At Indiebride.com, the online
"trousseau" even hawks used bridal gear at rock-bottom
prices ($200 for a designer wedding gown--worn once,
of course).
